and recovery appliance designed to meet the data backup needs of
small business or branch office users who require higher data capacity
for unattended backups, near-instantaneous file restores needed

The REO 1000 utilizes high-capacity SATA disk drives, Gigabit Ethernet
connectivity (iSCSI) and Caen's unique ProtectionPAC software to
deliver features such as virtual tape, dynamic virtual tape capacity
allocation, data compression (Virtual tape mode), hardware RAID
data protection and virtualization.
In addition to high capacity and fast recovery, the 1U REO 1000
delivers capabilities not found in existing 1U and 2U tape autoloaders,
stand-alone tape drives or NAS devices. RAID capability provides
users with an additional, redundant layer of data protection. The
REO 1000 virtualization feature provides users with the flexibility
to define multiple volumes of varying sizes needed to accommodate
their backup needs. For easy integration into existing storage environments,
the REO 1000 delivers virtual tape functionality, allowing users
to utilize it in either disk and/or tape image formats. The ability
to dynamically size virtual tape drives to the size of individual
backup jobs further increases storage efficiency while avoiding
tape overruns.
REO 1000 Features Include:
High-capacity backup - utilizing four 250 GB SATA
disk drives, the REO 1000 provides up to 1 TB of native backup capacity,
nearly 20 percent more capacity than comparably priced 1U and 2U
tape autoloaders.
High-speed recovery - utilizing direct access
disk technology, the REO 1000 recovers business-critical data at
near-instantaneous speeds, significantly improving file recovery
times.
Low-profile rack - mountable form factor-occupying
just 1U of rack space, the REO 1000 minimizes the use of valuable
data center real estate.
Gigabit Ethernet connectivity - seamlessly integrating
into existing 10/100 and Gigabit Ethernet networks, REO 1000 delivers
high-speed, low-cost connectivity to servers.
Hardware RAID data protection - the REO 1000 offers
hardware RAID 5 data protection for storage managers who wish to
retain an extra layer of data protection at every stage of their
disk-to-disk backup process.
