Overview
The Intransa IP7500 is the highest performance, highest capacity IP SAN. It does not have a single point of failure and it also has the highest availability of any IP SAN. The unprecedented value of the Intransa IP7500 makes it the right choice for applications requiring huge amounts of capacity.

The IP7000 series of products is Intransa's integrated solution for customers who want to deploy a simple IP SAN solution. Intransa's IP7500 is the industries largest native IP SAN. It is a complete IP SAN that only requires Cat-5 and power cables to provide 24 TB of storage to the network. Intransa's IP7500 storage solution is also upgradeable to 32 TB, and offers local and remote realm management through Intransa's StorControl™ software.

The IP7500 is a great digital media solution because it provides easy access to volumes that can be used by many hosts. Digital media solutions often need to have lots of hosts with dynamic storage configurations. The IP7500 manages these environments with ease.

Video surveillance, data warehousing, data mining, and nearline storage applications need the IP7500 storage solution. These applications require unlimited capacity scaling without massive reconfiguration, which is one of the many benefits of the IP7500.

The IP7500 also has the following management and resiliency features; fully redundant switching, management console, management network, and UPS with redundant power feeds. These are all populated into a single box that matches the dimensions of a standard 42U rack for easy installation.

Highlights
Simplified capacity planning: System storage can dynamically grow and be provisioned to hosts without disrupting applications or users.
Using standard iSCSI and Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) infrastructures reduces cost and complexity. This familiar technology, commodity Ethernet switches, and Cat 5 cabling, help simplify installation, management and maintenance.
Robust storage management provides flexible virtualization, striping and mirroring (Raid: 0, 1 and 1/0), host access control, and online capacity expansion while remaining easy to use.
Virtual point-in-time copies (Snapshots) allow backups, data mining, or application testing to be done without impacting access to critical data resources.
Powerful graphical user interface (GUI) simplifies system management. Smart templates in GUI allow for rapid volume creation without requiring knowledge of the underlying data structures.
Command Line Interface (CLI) is also provided to allow users to create scripts for rapid, automated provisioning of storage.
Provides data availability and accessibility by providing multiple physical mirrors with flexible mirror management.

The Intransa StorControl Management Tool: A Simply Smarter Approach to Managing Network Storage
The StorControl Management Tool is the key to unlocking the power of the IP7500. It is designed to enable administrators to have a single point of management for the integrated system to easily access, administer, setup, install, and maintain the IP7500 data volumes.

Complex Fibre Channel SANs require administrators to use several different storage resource management tools for installation and management. This complexity requires dedicated, highly skilled personnel to be available to setup and manage the SANs.

The StorControl Management Tool simplifies complex tasks such as creating a data volume with a specific RAID structure, into smart templates. These customizable templates create "virtual disks" based on a specific RAID structure (0, 1, 1/0), block size, or stripe width. Once a data volume has been created, the administrator may perform a single 'click' to display important statistics and overall health information. The volume can then be assigned to a host with a simple 'check-box' function. If an existing volume needs to expand, IT Administrators can do this "on demand", without disrupting applications or users.

Advanced wizards take users through the volume creation and snapshot process step-by-step. Users can even pre-script repetitive tasks using the CLI, to further automate the set-up process.

StorControl Management Tool provides four advanced administrative tools:
Volume Manager: Wizard-driven volume creation, host assignment management, read/write control and 'drag-and-drop' volume expansion.
Storage Resource Virtualization Manager: Configures free space pooling and simple setup of RAID types, striping and width.
Mirror Manager: Creates physical copies of volumes with the ability to 'break', re-attach, and re-sync mirrors.
Monitor Manager: Configures real time alerts and performance capacity monitoring.

Intransa StorControl Load Balance and High Availability
Reliability is the most important aspect of any storage system and the Intransa IP7500, with its High Availability and Load Balancing, will achieve better than four nines (99.99%) availability of customer data. The IP7500 does not sacrifice performance to meet availability requirements because all system components are in use at all times. This is unique in the industry.

Load Balancing: Maximum Performance
Unlike less-sophisticated storage systems, the StorControl Software Suite on the IP7500 system implements an n-way model of High Availability. All the SCMs in an IP7000 system actively serve storage volumes, sharing the system workload. If an SCM fails, the volumes that were being served by it are automatically redistributed to all the other SCMs in the system.

Thanks to the Intransa innovation of iSCSI redirection via virtual IP addresses, when a SCM takes control of a volume from another SCM, this process is completely transparent to the host using the volume. When an SCM reboots and comes back online, or when a new SCM is introduced into an IP SAN system, StorControl automatically redistributes the load from the other SCMs to the newly available SCM. In normal operation, StorControl is designed to keep the load on each SCM roughly equal. The software uses a balancing algorithm to keep the volumes assigned to each SCM to ensure that each serves effectively.

Hot-Swappable: No Downtime for Component Failure
The IP7500 system must remain operational even when a failure occurs, therefore all the major components are hot-swappable, Field-Replaceable Units (FRU). The architecture means that an installation will continue working, even after a component failure. Normal performance will return when the new FRU is installed, which is done without taking working storage offline, while the software rebalances the load to the restored component.

The Intransa StorControl Snapshot: A Simply Smarter Approach to Protecting Critical Data
The StorControl Snapshot is a flexible, powerful volume snapshot tool that creates a "point in time" virtual copy of a data volume. It is part of the StorControl software suite included with the IP7500 and empowers IT Administrators with the ability to protect critical data volumes.

The simple tool gives IT Administrators the ability to trigger the creation of volume snapshots. These snapshots can be used to reduce the need for frequent full-scale backups and allow data to remain online and accessible to hosts.

Snapshots can be employed to restore corrupted volumes, rollback test changes, or recreate a previous state for auditing requirements. A volume can be reverted to its Snapshot almost instantaneously.

Snapshots can be mounted as volumes that are independent of the original. The Snapshot can be used for testing, and when testing is complete the changes can be removed to return the Snapshot to its initial state. Intransa's software simplifies the task of managing this process.

IT Administrators expect protecting valuable data to be simple. The StorControl Snapshot and the StorControl Management Tool make it Simply Smarter.
