JBOD stands for "Just a Bunch Of Disks." It is another way to refer to spanning. JBOD enables a user to have a single logical volume as you would if you partitioned a disk. JBOD allows a user to join several drives into a single logical drive. JBOD works best for companies who need to maximize their storage capacity on a minimum budget, but without the benefits of RAID.
