Caen Announces New RM005ATX - Rackmount Server/ RAID Enclosure One of the most versatile combination server / RAID enclosures on the market today. Orange, CA - January 01, 2000: Caen Engineering, Inc., America's premier manufacturer of mass data storage enclosures, announced today the release of the new RM005-ATX rackmount server/RAID enclosure. The innovative and cost-effective RM005-ATX solves many problems associated with having several separate devices responsible for maintaining both key host-system components and storage media devices. This single enclosure houses and monitors all mission-critical components to ensure a seamless, unified, fault-tolerant environment for both host system and mass data storage system, optimally merging form and function.

"We designed the RM005-ATX to satisfy a need that many of our resellers and integrators were searching for," commented Martin Calderwood, Executive Vice President for Caen Engineering, Inc. "We needed to engineer a single enclosure that would house both the server and the RAID so that administrators could effectively monitor both critical systems more easily. Besides that, we wanted to pass on the reliability and fault-tolerance of our enclosures to the host system as well. I've found that often times, having a bullet-proof RAID alone only wins half the battle. We wanted to strengthen the host-server operating environment to make a bigger impact on total system reliability."

The new RM005-ATX houses a standard full-sized ATX motherboard (with support for Baby-ATX boards also), slots for up to three bootable devices (server primary HDD, CD ROM, 3.5" Floppy, etc.), nine half-height device bays (12 total if you count the above three) that can be used for controllers, HDDs, optical drives, CD devices, tape back-up, and others. This versatile unit is powered by dual hot-swap, redundant, load-sharing power supplies and cooled by a team of strong, hot-swappable and fixed mounted fans. The high-quality all-metal chassis comes complete with a locking front door that has a high-visibility viewing window. Built-in system status indicators with both visual and audible alarms (standard issue on all Caen enclosures) keep constant watch over the entire enclosure to warn the user at the first sign of trouble.

Available to ship immediately, the RM005-ATX is available in beige, black and white, in addition to custom colors and OEM silk screening options. It has a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $1,745. Chassis slides and all mounting hardware within the enclosure are included in this remarkably low price. This enclosure is designed to meet UL, CSA, TUV, FCC and RETMA standards.
