CaenAV’s Raptor 8 HD Certified by
Leitch for Next Generation dps VelocityQ(tm) Digital Video Editing

CaenAV, a subsidiary of Caen Engineering, Inc. today announced that Leitch Technology Corporation has
certified the Raptor 8 HD PowerPC(tm) based ATA storage system for
use with their next generation dpsVelocityQ(tm) and the Quattrus
professional video editing/playback system. The Raptor 8 HD, featuring
the supercharged PowerPC engine, has been certified to support 4
streams of uncompressed video utilizing a single Raptor HD channel.
Real-time uncompressed editing is a demanding and intensive task
for both the computer system and disk storage. The Raptor 8 HD is
the first ATA based direct attached storage system to move into
an area previously reserved for expensive SCSI based subsystems.
CaenAV has finally bridged the gap between SCSI / Fibre connectivity
and the high availability of affordable ATA disk drives.
About the Raptor 8 HD ATA Storage System
CaenAV’s Raptor 8 HD storage system is a space-saving 2U,
8-drive rackmountable ATA disk array that connects to either a SCSI
or Fibre Channel host interface. The Raptor 8 HD features a next
generation dual 64-bit PowerPC architecture optimized to handle
the requirements of uncompressed and HD video playback. The Raptor
8 HD features the industry's highest internal and external CPU frequencies
compared to most of the Intel-based storage system found at this
price point. Professional features include: hot swappable drives,
power supplies and blowers, audio visual fault alarms, automatic
"background" array rebuild, online expansion, remote management,
and multiple array support.
