Storage Manufacturer CaenAV Announces Partnership with
Astera Technologies
AV Storage Manufacturer CaenAV will work
with Astera on high-end Macintosh Solutions.
CaenAV, the AV focused subsidiary of 27-year-old storage manufacturer
Caen Engineering, Inc. announced a partnership with Astera Technologies
today. Astera Technologies is a spin-off of JNI Corporation, a publicly
held Fibre Channel Company (Nasdaq: JNIC). Astera Technologies was
created to design and develop high-end fibre channel products and
fibre channel-related technologies for the media and content creation
markets.
CaenAV believes that the partnership will go a long way toward
providing their high-end storage customers with solutions tailored
specifically for the HD video market. “Astera Technologies
has a very strong pedigree and an extremely solid product line up,”
said Ed Bacorn, Sales representative for CaenAV. “Astera has
designed custom-tuned fibre channel drivers that will address the
need for optimum performance when working with HD video.”
Astera offers both single and dual channel 2 GB fibre channel host
bus adapter cards with their Rhino series. Astera cards feature
seamless interoperability and include High-Definition drivers that
have been specifically tuned for use in the AV industry. Astera
released their HDFC (high-definition fibre channel driver) in June;
this driver overcomes the I/O bottlenecks found in OS X. These cards,
combined with the JumanJi SAN configuration utility provide users
with comprehensive suite of tools that have been designed to help
users get the highest performance from their Astera / CaenAV equipment.
“This partnership will go a long way toward providing the
Mac video community with a reliable, high-performance solution for
HD storage,” said Gustavo Jorge, VP of Sales and Marketing
for Astera Technologies. “With CaenAV and Astera you have
two companies who are focused on delivering products that will provide
high-end video users the data throughput that they require for HD.”
CaenAV is a subsidiary of Caen Engineering, a 27 year-old storage
company who made their name in the government, IT and Telecommunications
